Watching a Pair of Horses and a Human After a Brief Trip on Foot Along a Paved Road in the Morning

Looking over the sun-bleached fence,
I witnessed the beautiful white mare
And her stallion prancing
In the hilly field,
For love, for bondship,
And adoration,
For life is their fare.

Looking over the sunlit pasture,
I perceived the vibrant brown horse,
Running and pawing,
In the bite of chilled air,
Not for pride, but for exercise,
And simple joy,
For spirit is the source.

Looking over the sun-drenched dirt,
I beheld the illustrious pale horse
Galloping beside the other,
Nipping and biting tail and flank,
Not for spite, but for play,
And felicity,
For impulse shapes the course.

Looking over the sun-dried grasses,
I saw the intrusive man
With his whip and reigns,
Separating the star-crossed pair from each other,
Not for any purpose at all.
