I love stories about the aftermath of transforming into strange creatures, how the characters survive, and how it affects the world at large. A fan of speculative fantasy in general, the sort of way that the world should be. Not a fan of horror, since I get enough of that in real life already. I am glad that horror exists though, because if everyone always wrote about a better world, then I would have to assume that whoever is authoring my story must be living an even more terrible, dreary and meaningless life. Er, I might have some slight wee issues with clinical depression. I try not to let it show in my work, but this life of isolation and oppression does extract a heavy toll.

I never understood why people work so diligently to cut off your ability to have a second identity. It never benefits them personally, just gives them a smug sense of satisfaction, as if it were somehow comforting to know that you can never escape your past.

My INTERESTS include transformation, homestucks, ponies, ferrets and friendship. I like when I can do things by choice for benefit of myself and others, instead of out of obligation to a higher authority, which neatly pigeonholes me as an anarchist, whereupon those around me start raving about how the police are the only things stopping us from going at each other's throats while wearing scanty leather garments composed mostly of belts and covered with ornamental spikes. Ironically I am a fan of the post-apocalyptic genre, though what I really love is the post-post-apocalyptic genre, something very rarely touched upon. I like cute things, weird things, though not outright diseased or horrifying things. I am not a fan of zombies.

My chief issue in life is I can't figure out how to write a story that goes from dreary mundanity to exciting fantasy without having some form of gimmick to get the process going, something that defies explanation. Since such things never seem to happen in life, that makes for a hell of a lot of dreary mundanity. Broken dreams, predictable futures, and that one indescribable thing that's required to heal all wounds and turn the darkness into light, and we can't do anything more than write about how cool it would be if it did exist, magic. So, if anyone knows a trick to getting around this existential crisis I'd love to hear it. It really cuts out any pleasure I get from writing stories.

Lately I've been able to start writing again, thanks to a certain new genre appearing about supernatural camradery amongst equinoids, but it would be nice to write something that people actually want to read once and a while, so I thought I'd stop by here. I've been on Shifti before, and the old TSA-talk mailing list, under another alias of course... so few people know just how long I've been around, because some jerk diligently connects my chosen alias to the government file on me.
