Talk:Femtroopers
Comment by JonBuck
I really like the way this is going so far. The idea that in order to look relatively normal a man (well, a Vader anyway) will have to become female, would be a very hard decision to make. --Buck 21:49, 16 December 2007 (EST)

Great story, looking forward to seeing how it concludes. It's neat seeing sub-settings develop within Xanadu like this. Perhaps if they survive this current encounter the 501st could organize an Ewok brigade as specialized anti-Femtrooper forces. :) Bryan 01:31, 20 December 2007 (EST)

Came across a picture that seems relevant to this story today... Sexy Storm Trooper or Sexy Storm Trooper with Vader -- ShadowWolf 16:41, 24 December 2007 (EST) (second link: ShadowWolf 18:06, 24 December 2007 (EST))
Couple more: [1] [2] [3] [4] (that last one there has a full metric buttload of other Stormtroopers-in-everyday-life photos, the femtroopers are mixed in about two thirds of the way down the page). This link is supposedly a video about femtroopers, but it wasn't available when I clicked through: [5] Bryan 18:11, 24 December 2007 (EST)
Comments? I haven't even finished yet! Twentyone Twentyeight was not originally part of this story's plot- she just showed up when I mentioned a Vader who'd been abducted. The 501st doesn't really get along well with Ewoks, but the suggestion has been passed on.
...Yep, that's what Femtroopers look like. More or less. I came across Bryan's first link there and just had to write a story about it. It's been a lot of fun, but I'm hoping that I can finish soon, before it becomes a saga. Here I have something I wrote when I couldn't sleep- it's not a story, I don't know what else to do with it.
- Okay, those images were good, but here's something that's absolutely perfect. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NdSL2NUoWk Bryan 03:42, 8 January 2008 (EST)

I really rather like the concept, but I'm rather surprised you didn't have the Femtroopers capture James and we get to see a conversion. And not just because I enjoy TG stories, though I certainly do. But you're pointing out a lot of questions, and then not answering them. While this is a great in-depth look at the characters and the slightly desperate struggle against encroaching Femtrooping of the 501st, it suffers from this lack. It would have made for an interesting story to have the main character Femtrooper'd, and we see what those disadvantages that officer wondered about are, not to mention see the process by which they change people into one of their own. And maybe we could watch James try to bring down the Femtroopers from within their own ranks. As it is, this isn't so much a story as a long firefight with some character issues added in. The idea is good but the potential is mostly unused, I think. -- Xodiac 18:30, 30 December 2007 (EST)
- Well, there are plenty of other characters of the 501st (and other armored individuals in general) who have been captured previously. Perhaps a separate story could be written from one of their perspectives, if it doesn't quite fit in with this one? Bryan 03:21, 31 December 2007 (EST)
Thanks... When I wrote this story, it was started off with "How would custom stormtroopers like 'Femtroopers' interact with the 501st?" but I also had a question I wanted to answer. The question was "What is the greatest threat facing the 501st?" Femtroopers were only one answer; I wanted to feature several others without making them central, so the Fems did not succeed. This time I had an outline, and I set up more or less what the Femtroopers are before writing anything. They've got a hive mind, and I don't know how to write that. I'm also not sure how it could be taken down from the inside- as the single volunteer, Twentyone Twentyeight is the closest to an individual, but exactly where her loyalties lie... I know it's a novice thing to do, but I've become a bit fond of my characters, didn't want to see them functionally die. I might write something more Fem-centric in future, but I'd like something better than a starting place first. Beginnings are easy. But I like knowing where I can go from there. Thanks for the input; much appreciated. I might have had an outline, but... yeah. I'm still pleased with it, though. -- Joysweeper 4 January 2008
More high art
Just wandered across some more photos of costumes that might be suitable for 501st affiliates. :) [6] [7] [8] [9] Bryan 21:29, 20 February 2008 (EST)
Bryan, how are you finding these things? Or have you always come across absurd costumes, and the story's just made you more aware of them? - hey, it's the Elvis trooper. I think I mentioned him as one of the weird trooper variants. Can't think of anything I really want to do with him. - boxtrooper. Cute. I saw pics of people as Lego!Darth Maul and Lego!Qui-Gon Jin once... -Sherlock Holmes and Watson troopers? Kind of odd...
-... An AT-AT. Someone made an AT-AT costume. An AT-AT costume. My will is weak. I... I can't resist... that is the most awesomely geeky thing I have seen this year... An AT-AT costume. Quadrupedal. With relatively accurate feet. Guardian bless.
...Damn it, I have no conflict, plot structure, or resolution in mind. I've vowed to stop writing stories around a single detail. But... ah man! An AT-AT costume... more cumbersome than almost any of the fursuits at Xanadu, as bad as some of the "adult" rigs, making it essential to have a "driver" on hand, a friend in the appropriate outfit... tried to stand up, tried to protest, to breathe, couldn't, never would again... rose, coming to a standing position in a series of jerky motions, towering upwards - not at the full ten meters yet, but it wouldn't be much longer, didn't need pilots, but wanted them to fill that lifeless hollow void... the scout troopers, so long without the speeder bikes that made them more than just more-vulnerable-than-normal troopers, wept with joy at finding so many... Hope it's out of my system before it could get all the way in. I will cameo him at some point. This, I swear. --Joysweeper 20:47, 21 February 2008 (EST)
- Heh! Well, I found this particular batch while randomly browsing around on http://www.wtfcostumes.com/ - the AT-AT was on there with a link to the more detailed Flickr page I linked to above. I've always been fond of the idea of costume TFs, there's such broad potential for bizarre forms and situations, so I occasionally wander the net looking for inspiration. I'm glad you liked the AT-AT as much as I did, I've been trying to come up with a plot for him myself. I've been wanting to do a Xanadu TF where someone became something really big for a while now. Want to brainstorm further on conflict/plot/resolution, or maybe collaborate on something? :) Bryan 23:54, 21 February 2008 (EST)
- ...Man, some of those are strange. I really like the AT-AT. The Star Wars Wiki has an incredibly detailed page on them - [10] I'm a bit annoyed - I was sure that they were 10 meters at the shoulder, but I guess my fan knowledge is dwindling. "Star Wars: Complete Locations" states that AT-ATs are 22.5 meters, the Databank says 15.5 meters, and one novel I read said that "the walker's head was shot off, stranding the troopers inside ten meters off the ground". No sources can ever be unanimous about the size of a vehicle or a ship, it seems... either way, this is a much more unusual change than a similarly-sized humanoid giant mecha.
Really? I've never worked with someone on a story before. I'd be glad to give it a try, and Spring Break just started - my email address is joysweeper@hotmail.com. --Joysweeper 18:25, 22 February 2008 (EST)
Rr. Didn't get a chance to do any writing today after all. Found these, though; [11] [12] [13]. Bryan 01:58, 25 February 2008 (EST)
Hehe, I stumbled on this picture while trying to find a picture of a hippy volkswagon van and a camo painted HUMVEE parked right beside each other, thought you might get a kick out of it. http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/5.jpg --Devin 18:54, 26 February 2008 (EST)
First, a battle painting of the 501st in action. [14] Not post-Xanadu 501st, I think this is actually canon. I just think it's cool. Second... this. [15] I've seen "recruitment posters" like this before, but I hadn't seen one in years. I know there was one with a TIE-pilot... anyway, this is a good image for that. Finally. Femtroopers in real life are apparently connected to "trooper groupies". Cheerleaders for stormtroopers. People are weird. Scroll down to about halfway. [16] --Joysweeper 16:21, 28 March 2008 (EDT)
Meanwhile, in today's episode of "Least I Could Do", the main character has taken his niece to a comic book convention when this happens... [17] Bryan 11:57, 5 May 2008 (EDT)
- *laughs* There is a Captain America(<3!) cosplayer in the background! I like that! ...And yeah, that's pretty much how I like to imagine the 501st acts at conventions. Whether or not they actually do is irrelevant! I will cling to what makes me happy! --Joysweeper 23:14, 5 May 2008 (EDT)
Inspiration for the big chase scene in Walker: [18]. Gimmie two or three more days and I'll have more to add to that story. :) Bryan 04:46, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
Here's something more for this little collection - High Heeled Storm Trooper Boots. ShadowWolf 15:30, 30 June 2008 (EDT)
I, um. *embarrassed coughing* I found more of those recruitment posters. Work with Exotic Creatures! Fly for the Empire! Join! It's Your Duty! Build it Right - Make It Bite! Next Planet! and, already linked, Do Your Part, Serve! I, uh, rather like the aggressive undertones to all of these. There's a definite unspoken "Or else we'll make An Example out of you". --Joysweeper 13:27, 2 July 2008 (EDT)
